Dhaka, Aug 22 (V7N)- Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan has pledged to make the capital a cleaner and greener city.
He made the commitment while inaugurating a tree plantation program in Uttara on Saturday morning.
The DNCC administrator said the government will provide all-out support for initiatives aimed at increasing greenery in the capital. As part of the plan, DNCC has taken an initiative to plant 500,000 trees over five years.
So far, around 55,000 trees have been planted under the initiative, he said.
Shafiqul Islam Khan also said the Prime Minister has announced a nationwide target of planting 250 million trees over five years.
Alongside expanding greenery, DNCC will take all possible measures to keep Dhaka clean, he added.
The DNCC administrator urged residents to cooperate with the city corporation and refrain from throwing garbage indiscriminately on roads, streets and other public places.
