Dhaka, Aug 23 (V7N)- Local government elections will be held in accordance with the constitutional process, said newly appointed Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moin Khan.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday.
The minister said the local government elections would be conducted in line with government policies and the will of the people across the five tiers of local government.
Dr Abdul Moin Khan also stressed accountability among officials of the ministry. He said necessary action would be taken by the concerned authorities if any irregularity or corruption is found.
The minister further said effective functioning of the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry is crucial to ensuring proper overall administration of the country.
He added that the ministry would work to address the needs of the country's poor and ensure that government services reach the people effectively.
