DHAKA, Sept 2, (V7N) — The physical condition of Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hassan Mahmood is currently stable, according to the Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital authorities.
The minister was admitted to the hospital with fever, breathing difficulties, and cough. His physical condition is currently stable, said a press release here yesterday.
He will need to remain in the hospital for a few more days for complete treatment and close observation, the release said.
On Tuesday night at 9:40 PM, the 76-year-old Power Minister came to the hospital's emergency department with fever, breathing difficulties, and cough. His medical history includes diabetes and high blood pressure. A stent (ring) was placed in his coronary artery in Bangkok a few days ago, it added.
Initial examinations in the emergency department found that the minister had breathing difficulties and low blood oxygen levels. After being given necessary treatment, he was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) for further tests. A three-member medical board was immediately formed for his treatment.
The hospital authorities said that after reviewing various blood test reports and chest X-rays, considering the possibility of pneumonia in the lungs, necessary treatment was initiated.
Later, this morning, another medical board was formed, comprising specialists from various fields. His treatment and necessary tests are ongoing according to the board's recommendations.
