Dhaka, Sep 12 (V7N)- State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has said English-medium schools must comply with the state’s core curriculum, alleging that many such institutions are not properly following the national primary-level curriculum.
He made the remarks on Saturday (September 12) while speaking at a School Leaders Conference organized by Oxford AQA at a hotel in the capital.
Bobby Hajjaj said that despite years of discussion, it has still not been possible to establish a clear standard for how much time students should spend learning at the primary level.
He stressed that proper curriculum implementation and comprehensive teacher training are essential to improving the quality of education.
The State Minister pointed out that even a private driver is required to undergo training before taking on professional responsibilities, while teachers are sometimes assigned to classrooms without adequate training.
“Such a situation cannot be allowed to continue,” he said, emphasizing the need for trained and qualified teachers.
Bobby Hajjaj said the government is giving the highest priority to curriculum compliance and teacher training as part of efforts to establish benchmarks for Bangladesh’s future education system in line with global standards.
He added that effective measures would be taken in both areas to improve the overall quality of education in the country.
