Dhaka, Sep 17 (V7N)- French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam on Thursday (September 17).
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Bangladesh and France, with particular focus on trade, investment, defense, aviation, education, culture and human resource development.
They also exchanged views on priority issues related to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), climate change and multilateral cooperation.
The State Minister urged greater French investment in Bangladesh, particularly in infrastructure, renewable energy, space, technology and pharmaceutical sectors.
He also stressed the importance of expanding legal labor migration opportunities and reiterated Bangladesh's zero-tolerance policy toward irregular migration and human trafficking.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation on humanitarian issues, including French assistance for the approximately 1.3 million Rohingya refugees currently hosted in Bangladesh.
They also emphasized the need for the safe, voluntary and dignified repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar.
