Dhaka, Sep 23 (V7N)- Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque has said Bangladesh can develop world-class skilled human resources if stronger cooperation and effective partnerships are established between higher education institutions and industries.
He said the existing gap between universities and the industrial sector is one of the reasons Bangladesh has yet to produce the level of skilled workforce required to meet the country's needs.
The minister made the remarks while addressing a scholarship-awarding ceremony as chief guest at Dhaka University's Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Wednesday morning.
The scholarship program was organized under the initiative of the Dhaka University Marketing Alumni Association and funded by Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), with a total allocation of Tk 1 crore for students.
In his speech, Ehsanul Haque said universities in developed countries receive substantial support from alumni and major corporations for education, research and other academic activities.
He observed that industrial enterprises in Bangladesh have yet to provide comparable levels of support to higher education institutions.
The education minister said closer collaboration between universities and industries could also help institutions design curricula according to current market requirements and provide students with practical training.
Such cooperation, he said, would enable students to develop the skills needed for professional careers and allow them to contribute more effectively to their respective organizations.
He added that skilled graduates could help businesses improve efficiency and profitability while also contributing to the country's broader economic development.
Ehsanul Haque emphasized that stronger coordination between educational institutions and industries would help Bangladesh build a more capable workforce and accelerate the country's progress toward prosperity.
