Dhaka, Oct 19 (V7N)- State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraq Hossain has announced that he will make a formal announcement regarding his resignation at the National Press Club in Dhaka at 2:00 pm on Monday.

He also said he would face journalists at the press conference.

Ishraq disclosed the plan in a post on his verified Facebook page on Monday morning.

In the post, he referred to people who had commented on social media about the situation and expressed hope that those living abroad would return to Bangladesh and join future movements and struggles inspired by nationalist ideals, if necessary.

He said that, after leaving his ministerial position, he would continue working against drugs with greater enthusiasm as a BNP worker rather than as a member of parliament or state minister.

“I will work against drugs with a hundred times more enthusiasm, InshaAllah,” he wrote.

Ishraq also said he would intensify cleanliness programmes and travel to different districts to strengthen the organisational presence of the Generation Party nationwide.

Emphasising his intention to continue anti-drug activities outside government office, he described himself as a “drug eliminator” rather than a minister.

His announcement comes amid public criticism over a recent anti-drug operation in Dhaka during which a video appeared to show him carrying a firearm while confronting suspected drug offenders.

As of Monday morning, his proposed resignation had not yet been formally confirmed through an official government announcement.
