Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retired) Ahsan Habib issued a stern warning on Saturday, stating that any voting center found involved in casting fake votes during the upcoming upazila parishad election will be promptly shut down.
Speaking at a meeting with field administration officials at the Barisal Shilpakala Academy auditorium, Habib emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of violence related to the upazila parishad election across the country.
"We are committed to conducting a free and fair upazila parishad election scheduled for May 8 in Barisal Sadar and Bakerganj upazilas," he stated, underscoring the importance of transparency in the electoral process.
Responding to inquiries, the commissioner reiterated the Election Commission's impartial stance, asserting its dedication to ensuring an unbiased electoral environment.
Addressing another meeting in Pirojpur later that evening, Habib reiterated the commitment to conducting the Upazila Parishad elections in a fair and transparent manner, emphasizing equal treatment of all candidates regardless of their influence or stature.
