President Mohammed Shahabuddin called on officials at specialized hospitals, including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), to encourage patients to seek treatment locally rather than going overseas. He emphasized the importance of supporting patients' treatment at national super-specialized hospitals such as BSMMU.
The President made these remarks during a meeting with BSMMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Deen Mohammad Nurul Haque, at Bangabhaban. Following the meeting, the President’s press secretary, Md Joynal Abedin, briefed the media.
The President was informed by the BSMMU Vice-Chancellor about the university's overall activities, particularly its healthcare services. As the university's Chancellor, the President stressed the need for providing quality and timely treatment.
Additionally, the Vice-Chancellor of Islamic Arabic University (IAU), Professor Md Abdur Rashid, also met with the President at Bangabhaban. During this meeting, the VC discussed the university's current activities and future plans.
President Shahabuddin highlighted the importance of updating the curriculum to meet modern standards, ensuring that IAU students in various madrasas can compete effectively with students from other universities. He also urged university officials to enhance students' English language and IT skills.
The meetings were attended by the President's Office Secretary, Md Wahidul Islam Khan, and Military Secretary, Major General Mohammed Adil Chowdhury.
