Dhaka, August 4 — Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called on the citizens of Bangladesh to take a firm stand against those she described as "terrorists," who are causing unrest across the country. The Prime Minister made this appeal during a meeting of the National Committee on Security Affairs held on Sunday, attended by the chiefs of the three military branches.

Addressing the nation, Sheikh Hasina emphasized that the individuals involved in the current wave of sabotage are not students but terrorists. "I appeal to the countrymen to suppress these terrorists with strong hands," she declared, urging a united response to the ongoing disturbances.

The meeting, which lasted from 11 am to 2 pm at Ganabhaban, was convened amidst escalating agitation and unrest nationwide. Assistant Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, ABM Sarwar-e-Alam Sarkar, briefed journalists on the outcome of the discussions.

This gathering marked the first meeting of the National Committee on Security since 2023. The committee, established in March 2019 following the approval of the National Defense Policy-2018, serves as the highest policy-making body concerning the country's security matters. Comprising 27 members, the committee's role is to review and address national security issues.

The Prime Minister's call for decisive action reflects the government's concern over the recent escalation of violence and unrest, urging the public and security forces to act decisively to restore order.
