Dhaka, August 11 – The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has announced the expansion of military operations across Bangladesh to enhance the security of public property and critical government installations. This move comes in response to the recent unrest and increased security concerns throughout the country.

In a press release issued on Sunday night, ISPR confirmed the deployment of army troops to 537 police stations nationwide to assist local law enforcement. The military has also intensified patrols in various regions to maintain law and order, particularly during nighttime.

The ISPR report highlighted the deployment of additional troops to Gopinathpur in the Sadar Upazila of Gopalganj, following an attack on an army patrol team on Saturday. The situation in the area has since stabilized.

The press release further mentioned that on Sunday, army personnel successfully rescued four Japanese nationals amidst protests by job seekers at an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Narayanganj. The military’s presence has helped to manage the protest and ensure the safety of those involved.

According to ISPR, operations at police stations have returned to normal, with a significant number of policemen resuming their duties. In a positive development, civilians have started to return looted weapons and ammunition to the army, leading to a noticeable decrease in robbery incidents. Detainees from recent disturbances are being processed and sent directly to prisons through mobile courts.

The army is also actively engaged in operations to locate missing persons related to abductions in various areas. Moreover, those who were seriously injured during recent agitations are receiving medical treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

ISPR emphasized the importance of joint patrols, which have been stepped up both during the day and night, with a particular focus on maintaining control during nighttime hours.

In light of recent events, ISPR warned against the spread of misinformation on social media, noting that some false narratives are being mixed with factual news to create confusion about the military’s activities. The public has been urged to stop spreading such propaganda. The military reassured the nation that it remains committed to supporting the people and the state and called for cooperation from all citizens to ensure the smooth execution of its duties.

The military’s increased involvement comes as part of a broader effort to restore stability and ensure the safety of all citizens in the wake of recent disturbances.
