Dhaka, August 19 — The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has appointed former secretary and former caretaker government advisor Abdul Mueed Chowdhury as the new chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The appointment was announced in a notification issued on Sunday night.

Abdul Mueed Chowdhury succeeds Mustafa Kamal Uddin, a retired senior secretary, who has been relieved of his duties as chairman of the national flag carrier. The change in leadership at Biman Bangladesh Airlines comes amid ongoing efforts to restructure and improve the operations of the airline.

This leadership shift follows the earlier decision on August 15, when the government made the airline's Managing Director (MD) Md. Zahidul Islam Bhuya an officer on special duty (OSD). The recent appointments and changes signal a broader move towards enhancing the management and efficiency of Biman Bangladesh Airlines as the country seeks to strengthen its national aviation capabilities.
