Dhaka, August 24 — AS Feroze, the former Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) and a prominent leader of the Awami League, has been arrested by the police. The arrest took place in the Banani area of the capital city, Dhaka, on Friday, August 23, at around 7 pm.

AS Feroze has a long-standing political career, having been elected as a member of the National Parliament eight times. He most recently won the seat for the Patuakhali-2 (Baufal) constituency in the election held on January 7. His experience and seniority in the parliament were further highlighted during the 23rd session of the 11th National Parliament, where he served as the 1st panel speaker, presiding over the parliamentary sittings in the speaker's absence.
