Dhaka, August 24 — The Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to manage the ongoing flood crisis in Bangladesh. During a meeting with representatives from various NGOs at the Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna on Saturday afternoon, Yunus outlined the immediate priorities and long-term strategies required to mitigate the impact of the floods.

Dr. Yunus noted that while floodwaters have started to recede, the risks associated with health and food security remain significant. He called for a coordinated approach to relief distribution, ensuring that aid is provided according to the specific needs of affected communities. Additionally, he highlighted the government's focus on swiftly restoring electricity and internet connectivity in the flood-hit areas to facilitate communication and recovery efforts.

Expressing his admiration for the public's proactive response, Yunus stated, "I am impressed with how the people of the country have stepped forward. We must plan to address health and food risks in a comprehensive manner and mobilize international funds for this cause." He also encouraged everyone, particularly the youth, to take the initiative in these relief efforts.

NGO representatives present at the meeting proposed organizing relief activities by designated zones to improve efficiency and coverage. They also agreed on the importance of assessing flood damages thoroughly and mobilizing resources through donor agencies and expatriates to support the recovery process.
