Dhaka, August 29 — Advocate Ehsanul Haque Samazi has declined the position of Public Prosecutor (PP) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, just two days after his appointment. In a letter sent to the Solicitor Section of the Department of Law and Justice, Samazi cited personal and professional reasons for his decision.

In his letter, Samazi expressed his gratitude for the appointment but stated, "Recently, I have come to know from various media and other sources that in the letter issued by your office, I have been appointed to the post of Metropolitan Public Prosecutor. I thank all concerned, including the adviser. However, as a member of the Dhaka Bar Association for almost 38 years, I have always prioritized professional dignity. In the interest of maintaining this dignity and due to personal and family reasons, I must express my inability to join the post."

Samazi assured his continued support for state reform work and pledged to cooperate with the administration in providing legal services in the future.

Earlier, on August 27, Samazi's appointment as public prosecutor for the new Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court was announced. He previously served as a public prosecutor during the caretaker government and is known for his expertise in criminal law and contributions to legal reforms.
