Dhaka, September 03- The number of fatalities due to the ongoing floods in various districts of Bangladesh has risen to 71, with four more deaths reported recently. According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, the deceased include 45 men, 7 women, and 19 children. The flood-affected districts include Feni, Comilla, Chittagong, Noakhali, Cox's Bazar, Khagrachari, Brahmanbaria, Laxmipur, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, and Sylhet, affecting a total of 68 upazilas.

The daily disaster report from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief details the distribution of deaths as follows: 28 in Feni, 19 in Comilla, 11 in Noakhali, 6 in Chittagong, 1 in Khagrachari, 1 in Brahmanbaria, 1 in Laxmipur, 3 in Cox's Bazar, and 1 in Moulvibazar. Additionally, one person remains missing in Moulvibazar.

The flood has left more than 5.82 lakh families stranded, with over 5.24 million people affected across the affected regions. In response, authorities have established 3,615 shelters, providing refuge to 285,996 people and 31,203 cattle.

To address the health needs of the flood victims, 469 medical teams are actively providing medical assistance. The floods, triggered by heavy downpours and upstream rains since August 20, have caused significant infrastructural damage. The Directorate of Local Government Engineering (LGED) reports that 7,722 kilometers of roads and 1,011 bridges and culverts have been initially damaged. However, LGED has managed to repair 51 kilometers of roads and 96 bridges and culverts so far.

The government and disaster management agencies continue to monitor the situation and provide necessary aid to those affected by the floods.
