Dhaka, Sep 11 (V7N)- Donald Lu, the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, is scheduled to visit Bangladesh and India from September 10 to 16, 2024, to discuss key areas of economic growth, financial stability, and bilateral cooperation. The visit was announced through a press release issued by the Office of the Spokesperson of the US Department of State on Tuesday.

In Dhaka, Lu will lead a high-level US delegation, including representatives from the US Department of Revenue, the US Agency for International Development, and the US Trade Representative Office. The discussions with Bangladesh's interim government will focus on strengthening economic growth and ensuring financial stability, with the US offering support for Bangladesh's ongoing development efforts.

During the latter part of his tour in India, Lu will address US-India cooperation at the India Ideas Summit in New Delhi, organized by the US-India Business Council. The discussions will emphasize key areas such as development, security, and women’s economic empowerment. Additionally, Lu will co-chair the 8th US-India Two Plus Two Intersessional Dialogue alongside US Principal Assistant Secretary of State for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs Jedediah Royal and Indian officials from the Ministries of External Affairs and Defence. The dialogue will focus on identifying opportunities to enhance US-India defense cooperation and strengthening ties in the Indo-Pacific region.

The visit underscores the United States' commitment to supporting economic development and promoting regional stability across South and Central Asia.
