Dhaka, Jan 16 (V7N)— The exchange rate of the US dollar remained almost unchanged last week, while most other major foreign currencies experienced a slight decline against the Bangladeshi taka.

According to data from NCC Bank, the US dollar was traded at Tk 122.70 at the beginning of the week and showed no significant fluctuation throughout the period.

The British pound sterling saw minor variations. It reached a weekly high of Tk 167.00 on Monday, while the lowest rate was Tk 166.15 on Thursday.

The euro also recorded marginal changes. The currency traded at a high of Tk 144.50 on Monday and slipped to a low of Tk 144.23 on Thursday.

A relatively noticeable change was observed in the Australian dollar. It peaked at Tk 82.95 on Tuesday before dropping to Tk 81.88 on Thursday.

The Malaysian ringgit remained stable, trading within Tk 30 throughout the week.

Similarly, the Singapore dollar showed little movement. It recorded a high of Tk 96.33 on Monday and a low of Tk 95.72 on Thursday.

The Saudi riyal also remained largely steady, trading at Tk 32.73 on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Canadian dollar reached its highest rate of Tk 89.15 on Monday, before falling to a low of Tk 88.53 on Wednesday.

The Indian rupee saw minimal fluctuation, with its highest rate recorded at Tk 1.36 during the week.

Market analysts said the overall stability reflects cautious trading and steady demand in the foreign exchange market.
