Dhaka, May 22 (V7N) – Banks across the country will remain closed for seven consecutive days from May 25 to May 31 on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha holidays, according to a circular based on government instructions.

The banking operations will resume on June 1 after the Eid holiday period ends.

However, all bank branches will remain open on Saturday, the weekly holiday, and regular banking activities will continue on Sunday ahead of the Eid break.

To ensure timely payment of salaries and allowances for garment workers before Eid, selected branches in industrial zones—including Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong—will operate on a limited scale on Monday and Tuesday. These branches will conduct transactions from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The central bank has also instructed that import-export related banking services in sea, land, and airport port areas will continue on a limited basis during the holiday period to maintain international trade flow.

The government has already announced that all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private offices will remain closed from May 25 to May 31 for the Eid-ul-Azha festival.
