Dhaka, Jun 30 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced the price of gold ornaments in the domestic market by up to Tk 3,324 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT.

According to a BAJUS notification issued on Tuesday (June 30), the revised prices came into effect from 10:00 am.

The association said the decision was taken unanimously at a meeting of its Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring after reviewing the overall market situation.

Under the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 221,966 per bhori, including VAT.

The revised prices for other categories are:

  • 21-carat gold: Tk 211,993 per bhori

  • 18-carat gold: Tk 182,075 per bhori

  • Traditional gold: Tk 148,774 per bhori

BAJUS said the new prices will remain effective at all jewellery outlets across the country until further notice.

The association also noted that making charges will continue to vary depending on the design of the jewellery. As VAT has already been included in the selling price, jewellers are not permitted to collect VAT separately from customers.
