Dhaka, Aug 21 (V7N)- The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued special traffic instructions ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
According to a public notice issued by the DMP on Thursday (August 20), Mirza Fakhrul will take the oath of office at Bangabhaban at 7:30pm on Friday (August 21).
The outgoing president, newly elected president, Prime Minister, Speaker, Chief Justice, former presidents, cabinet members, diplomats, senior government officials and other dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremony.
To ensure smooth movement of vehicles carrying invited guests, the DMP has imposed special traffic arrangements in and around Bangabhaban from 3pm to 9pm on Friday.
The restrictions will not apply to vehicles carrying invited guests to Bangabhaban.
According to the DMP’s instructions:

All types of vehicles will be prohibited from using the route from Alico Gap at Motijheel Shapla Chattar to Dilkusha Commercial Area (Bangabhaban Road) and Rajuk Crossing (DIT Road).

Buses travelling between Shapla Chattar and Dainik Bangla and Rajuk-Gulistan will have to use the Dainik Bangla-UBL-Press Club route or another convenient alternative road.

Commercial vehicles will not be allowed to travel from Dainik Bangla toward Rajuk.

Vehicles coming from Hanif Flyover will not be allowed to take a U-turn at Zero Point. They will instead have to use the left route through Fulbaria or the right route through UBL Crossing toward Dainik Bangla-Shapla Chattar. Alternatively, vehicles may use the Zero Point-UBL Crossing-Nightingale Crossing-Fakirapool Crossing-Ittefaq route.
The DMP has requested drivers and commuters to avoid the restricted roads and use alternative routes during the specified period.
The police apologized for the temporary inconvenience caused by the traffic arrangements and sought the cooperation of all concerned to ensure smooth traffic management during the presidential oath-taking ceremony.
