Chattogram, Aug 16 (V7N) — As part of nationwide prayers for peace and prosperity, the Metropolitan Sarbojanin Puja Committee and Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad have organized Janmashtami celebrations across the country. In Chattogram, the festival commenced with a Gita Yajna (ritual reading of the Bhagavad Gita) conducted by Maharaj from the Shankar Math Mission in Sitakunda.

The event has drawn devotees and visitors from various parts of the city and beyond. To ensure smooth and secure observance of the religious programs, authorities have enforced strict security measures in and around celebration venues. Law enforcement personnel are actively monitoring all movements through closed-circuit surveillance systems (CCTV), maintaining a visible presence to prevent any untoward incidents.
 
Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, is one of the most significant religious festivals for the Hindu community in Bangladesh. The celebration typically involves religious discourses, devotional music, processions, and spiritual gatherings.

Local authorities have assured the public of full cooperation and support throughout the duration of the festivities. Community leaders have also expressed gratitude for the support from law enforcement in facilitating a peaceful environment for worship and celebration.
