Five tiers of security have been implemented by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to maintain peace and order during Eid-ul-Fitr.
 
DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman told reporters, "At this point, there is no advance information on militant activities centering around Eid." He was updating reporters on the state of law and order in the capital during Eid.
 
He said that police officers from the Special Branch (SB) and the DMP dog squad will be stationed at the Eidgah and its surrounding locations. CCTV cameras, drone patrols, and a watch tower will be used to monitor the whole region.
 
He added the President, Chief Justice, cabinet members, diplomats, and dignitaries are expected to perform Eid prayers. The major Eid congregation would be conducted in the National Eidgah at 8.30am.
 
Habibur said, "The National Eidgah congregation can accommodate over 35,000 devotees."
 
He said that in order to maintain security, police will use metal detectors and archways to examine individuals at the entry. There will be plainclothes detectives, SB police, and other intelligence organisations there.
 
The DMP head also mentioned the presence of the bomb disposal team and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit.
 
The DMP commissioner stated that parking arrangements would be prepared at ten locations for the major Eid Jamaat in regards to traffic arrangements. According to him, eight routes will be used as detours so that worshippers may easily join the prayers.
 
The DMP commissioner announced that since 1,488 mosques and 184 Eidgahs in the capital will be hosting Eid prayers, special plans will be put in place to guarantee perfect security.
 
In response to a query, Habibur Rahman stated that the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in Bandarban is not particularly threatened in Dhaka.
Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) AKM Hafiz Akhter, Additional Police Commissioner (crime and operation) Dr Khandaker Mahid Uddin, Additional Police Commissioner (Logistic, finance and procurement) Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman, Additional Police Commissioner (traffic) Md Munibur Rahman, Additional Police Commissioner (CTTC) Md Asaduzzaman and Additional Police Commissioner (detective) Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid were, among others, present.
