In response to the ongoing heatwave, the parliamentary committee has proposed the regular sprinkling of water on roads to offer some relief to citizens. Additionally, the recommendation includes provisions for saline and clean water distribution.

During the meeting of the Standing Committee on Disaster Management and Relief Ministry convened at the National Parliament on Tuesday, the pertinent authorities were urged to implement this proposal.

A press release from the parliament secretariat disseminated the committee's decision following the meeting.

Furthermore, the committee advised the ministry to undertake necessary actions to integrate the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense Department as well as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department into the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. This move aims to enhance transparency in natural disaster forecasting and foster overall collaboration promptly.

The adoption of building codes for the construction of rural roads under the Uni Block system and the implementation of eight-level earthquake-resistant infrastructure were among the committee's recommendations.

Moreover, the committee proposed that the ministry initiate measures to bolster fish farming and ensure the provision of clean water through food-for-work programs by excavating and cleansing village ponds.
