Dhaka, Dec 08 (V7N) – A dense fog has blanketed Kurigram for the past four days, worsening the plight of residents, especially children, the elderly, and those in vulnerable areas.

The cold wave has led to an influx of patients at hospitals, with many suffering from cold-related illnesses. Char inhabitants, riverbank dwellers, and low-income groups are bearing the brunt of the cold, compounded by light dew-like rainfall.

The local meteorological office reported a temperature of 13°C at 6 a.m. on Sunday.

Rafiqul Islam, a day laborer from Kedar Union in Nageshwari Upazila, shared his struggle: “The cold wind and dense fog make it unbearable. My hands and legs feel frozen while working.”

Autorickshaw driver Ashraful Hossain added, “We have to drive slowly or keep the headlights on as visibility is severely reduced due to the fog.”

Subal Chandra Sarkar, acting officer of the Kurigram weather office, warned that the district might face two to three more cold waves this month, with temperatures likely to drop further.
