Dhaka, Mar 22 (V7N)- A strong Kalbaishakhi storm, accompanied by thunder, lightning, and light to moderate rain, is expected to hit several districts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions on Saturday (March 22) by noon.
Meteorological and climate researcher Mustafa Kamal Palash made this prediction in a Facebook post, warning that the storm is likely to enter Bangladesh through Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, and Dinajpur districts in Rangpur division. It is expected to move southeastward over Nilphamari, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, and Gaibandha before passing through Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions.
Additionally, light to moderate rain is forecasted in various districts of Khulna, Barishal, and Dhaka divisions between 7 AM and 12 noon on Saturday. The sky is expected to remain cloudy across most parts of the country, with a higher chance of drizzle in central districts.
A significant risk of lightning strikes has been highlighted for the districts in Rangpur division as the storm passes through. Residents are advised to avoid open areas, refrain from outdoor activities, and take necessary precautions, especially farmers working in fields.
Authorities have urged citizens to stay updated with weather forecasts and exercise caution during this period of unstable weather.
