Dhaka, Apr 19 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm alert for nine regions, warning of gusty to squally winds by 6 PM today (Saturday, April 19). The alert was issued in the inland river port weather bulletin valid from 8:30 AM to 6 PM.

According to the forecast, rain or thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h may affect the regions of Faridpur, Madaripur, Barisal, Bhola, Noakhali, Comilla, Lakshmipur, Chittagong, and Cox's Bazar. As a precaution, river ports in these areas have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number one.

In a separate 24-hour forecast issued at 6 PM on Friday (April 18), the Met Office also predicted temporary gusty winds and thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall in many parts of the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions. Some areas may experience moderate to heavy rainfall as well.

Despite the weather disturbances, day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain largely unchanged.
