Dhaka, Jun 02 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning for storms and thundershowers across 11 districts, predicting wind speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour in certain areas.

The warning, effective until 1 PM on Monday (June 2), was issued for the country's inland river ports. According to the official bulletin signed by meteorologist Md. Shahinul Islam, temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast—ranging between 45 to 60 km/h—may sweep across the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Bogra, Mymensingh, Kushtia, Barisal, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet.

Rain or thundershowers are also likely to accompany the strong winds. As a precaution, river ports in the affected areas have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number 1.

The Met Office further indicated that this weather pattern may continue over the coming days, with most divisions of the country likely to experience temporary gusty winds, lightning, and rainfall. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also expected in isolated locations.

Citizens, especially those residing in low-lying or riverine areas, are advised to remain alert and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.
