Dhaka, July 10 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a fresh heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for five divisions of the country, effective for the next 24 hours starting from 10 AM on Thursday (July 10).

According to the alert, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, and Barisal divisions are likely to experience intense rainfall under the influence of active southwest monsoon conditions.

The BMD defines:

  • Heavy rainfall as 44 to 88 millimeters within 24 hours,

  • Very heavy rainfall as more than 88 millimeters during the same period.

Additionally, the warning notes a heightened risk of landslides in the hilly areas of the Chittagong division, urging residents in those regions to exercise caution.

The weather office has advised local authorities and disaster management teams to remain vigilant, especially in landslide-prone zones.
