Dhaka, July 14 (V7N) – The low pressure area formed over the North Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas of Bangladesh has intensified into a distinct low pressure system over the southwest coast of Bangladesh and neighboring Gangetic West Bengal, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reported on Monday.
Meteorologist Md. Toriful Newaz Kabir said in a weather warning issued today that the system may intensify further in the coming hours.
Due to this low pressure, significant air pressure variations are occurring over the North Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas, causing gusty to stormy winds. The affected areas include the North Bay of Bengal, coastal Bangladesh, and sea ports.
As a precaution, local warning signal number 3 has been raised at the sea ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra. Authorities have advised fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal to navigate carefully and stay close to the coast until further notice.
Residents and maritime operators are urged to stay alert and monitor further updates from the Meteorological Department.
