Dhaka, May 16 (V7N) – Strong winds accompanied by rain and thunderstorms are likely to affect several parts of Bangladesh by Saturday evening, according to the latest inland river ports weather forecast issued for May 16.

Affected Districts

The forecast warns that Rangpur, Dinajpur, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Comilla, and Chittagong may experience rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds blowing at speeds of 45–60 km/h from western and northwestern directions.

River ports in these regions have been advised to display warning signal number 1.

Nationwide Rain Outlook

A broader 24-hour forecast from 9 am indicates that light to moderate rain, thundershowers, and temporary gusty winds are likely across many parts of the country:

  • Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet: Many places likely to see rain and lightning

  • Dhaka & Chittagong: Some areas may experience showers

  • Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal: Isolated rainfall possible

  • Heavy rainfall is also likely in parts of Mymensingh and Sylhet

Temperature Update

  • Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged nationwide

  • A mild heatwave continues in parts of Khulna division, including Madaripur, Chandpur, and Lakshmipur
