DHAKA, Jun 18 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast gusty winds and thunderstorms in several parts of the country by Thursday evening, prompting authorities to issue cautionary warnings for inland river ports.
According to a weather warning issued by the Meteorological Office, temporary gusty or squally winds with speeds ranging from 45 to 60 kilometers per hour may sweep across several regions, accompanied by rain or thundershowers.
The warning, valid from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, covers the regions of Rangpur, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet.
Meteorologists said the winds are likely to blow from the south or southeast and may be accompanied by temporary rain or thunderstorms in the affected areas.
In view of the forecast, inland river ports located within these regions have been advised to hoist Local Cautionary Warning Signal No. 1 to alert vessels and river transport operators.
The Meteorological Department urged river users and authorities to remain vigilant and follow official weather advisories to avoid potential risks associated with adverse weather conditions.
