Dhaka, Jul 02 (V7N) — A low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north Odisha–West Bengal coastal region, prompting the Bangladesh Meteorological Department to issue a warning for strong winds over the northern Bay, coastal areas and maritime ports.
The warning, issued on Thursday and signed by Assistant Meteorologist Afroza Sultana, said gale-force winds may sweep across the northern Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh's coastal districts and nearby seaports due to the influence of the low-pressure system.
In response, the Meteorological Department has advised the seaports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to hoist Local Warning Signal No. 3.
The department also instructed all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal to remain close to the coast and navigate with caution until further notice.
Authorities have urged those engaged in maritime activities to closely follow subsequent weather bulletins as the system develops.
