Dhaka, Jul 11 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds in at least 16 regions of the country, including the capital, due to the active monsoon.

According to the weather bulletin for the country's inland river ports issued on Saturday, temporary gusts or squalls with speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour may sweep across the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Kushtia, Jashore, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet between 5:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The forecast said the winds may be accompanied by rain or thunderstorms and are expected to blow from the south or southeast.

In light of the weather conditions, the Meteorological Department has advised all inland river ports in the affected regions to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. 1.

Authorities have urged river transport operators and residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and follow official weather advisories until conditions improve.
