Dhaka, July 28 (V7N)- The deep depression formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal coastal areas has moved over northern Odisha and nearby coastal regions. Due to its impact, gusty or squally winds may continue over the seaports, the northern Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Bangladesh.
In this situation, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has asked the seaports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to maintain local warning signal number 3.
The information was provided in a special weather bulletin signed by Assistant Meteorologist Afroza Sultana of the Meteorological Department on Tuesday (July 28).
According to the bulletin, the deep depression crossed the West Bengal-Odisha coast at around 6 am on Tuesday and is now located over northern Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal areas. It is likely to move west-northwestward and gradually weaken.
The bulletin also said that a strong pressure gradient remains over the northern Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, which may cause strong winds in the region.
Meanwhile, all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal have been advised to remain cautious while moving near the coast and stay in safe shelters until further notice.
