Dhaka, Aug 18 (V7N)- The Meteorological Department has asked four seaports in Bangladesh to display local warning signal number 3 due to the possibility of strong winds in the northern Bay of Bengal.
According to a weather warning issued on Tuesday (August 18), a monsoon depression that was previously located along the southwestern West Bengal coast of Bangladesh and the adjoining northwestern Bay of Bengal has moved west-northwestwards.
The depression is currently positioned over Jharkhand and adjoining areas and is expected to move further west-northwestwards before gradually weakening.
However, due to the influence of the system and a significant pressure difference over the northern Bay of Bengal, strong winds may occur in the region, the warning said.
Against this backdrop, the Meteorological Department has instructed the seaports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to display local warning signal number 3.
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal have also been advised to proceed cautiously near the coast until further notice.
