Dhaka, Sep 14 (V7N)- Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely in different parts of Bangladesh, including the capital, although the Meteorological Office has forecast no major change in overall day and night temperatures.
The information was released in the weather forecast issued on Monday (September 14).
According to the forecast, the axis of the monsoon trough extends from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal through northern Bangladesh to Assam, with another part extending into the northwest Bay of Bengal.
The monsoon is currently moderately active over Bangladesh and remains moderate over the North Bay of Bengal.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are likely in parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. One or two places in Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions may also experience rain.
Some areas may receive moderate to heavy rainfall. Day and night temperatures across the country may rise slightly.
For Dhaka and its adjoining areas, the six-hour forecast from 1pm Monday says the sky may remain partly cloudy to cloudy, with a chance of light rain or thundershowers. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.
Southerly or southeasterly winds may blow at a speed of 10–15 km/h in Dhaka and surrounding areas during the period.
Sunset in Dhaka is expected at 6:04pm Monday, while sunrise on Tuesday will be at 5:45am.
In the previous 24 hours, Rangpur recorded the highest rainfall in the country at 66 millimeters.
The highest temperature during the period was 35.5 degrees Celsius, recorded in Feni and Ramgati of Lakshmipur, while the lowest temperature was 23.8 degrees Celsius in Bandarban.
