Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury announced that Canada intends to deepen its environmental and climate collaboration with Bangladesh. This statement followed a meeting with Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Lilly Nicholls at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

The minister highlighted the importance of global partnerships in combating climate change and praised Canada’s leadership and support. Areas identified for closer collaboration include renewable energy, biodiversity conservation, and technical assistance. Chowdhury emphasized the need for innovative technologies like blockchain and AI to implement Bangladesh's ambitious climate agenda.

Nicholls reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to cooperate on climate change, focusing on sector-specific activities to avoid duplication of efforts. She mentioned priorities such as technology transfer, climate-smart agriculture, and biodiversity conservation, stressing the need for addressing medical and e-waste, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
