Dhaka, Sept 7 (V7N): The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted an increase in rainfall over the coming five days, accompanied by a potential temperature drop, starting from 9 am on Saturday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Met office stated, "Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with temporary gusty winds are likely over several areas in the Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Additionally, some parts of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Barisal divisions may see rainfall, with one or two places in the Rangpur division experiencing isolated showers. Moderately heavy downpours are expected in some areas of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions."

The department also noted that both daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to remain stable during this period.

Sandwip in Chattogram district recorded the highest rainfall, at 96 mm, until 9 am on Saturday.

The low-pressure system over the West-central and adjacent Northwest Bay is expected to intensify.

The monsoon trough extends from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal to Assam, crossing central Bangladesh. Monsoon activity remains fairly active across Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.
