Dhaka, Sep 07 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a local warning signal number 3 for the country’s four seaports—Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra—due to the likelihood of gusty winds over the North Bay of Bengal and the coastal areas.

In a statement released on Saturday evening, the Department of Meteorology explained that a low-pressure area has formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining North-West Bay of Bengal. The low pressure is moving northward and has concentrated into a distinct low-pressure system, with the possibility of further intensification.

This weather system has caused significant variations in air pressure over the North Bay of Bengal, prompting the warning for the coastal regions.

The authorities have also advised fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay of Bengal to proceed cautiously and remain near the coast until further updates are provided.

Residents and those in the affected areas have been urged to remain alert as weather conditions may worsen in the coming days.
