Dhaka, Nov 21 (V7N) Veteran journalist Shafiq Rehman has been granted bail in a case accusing him of conspiring to kidnap and kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the son of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her IT advisor.

Rehman surrendered to the court earlier today and filed a bail petition. Following the hearing, the court approved his request, allowing him temporary relief in the long-standing case.

Speaking to reporters after the ruling, Shafiq Rehman expressed satisfaction, describing the court's decision as a sign of its neutrality under the interim government. He praised the leadership of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, calling it a "big success" and urged the public to allow Dr. Yunus the time and space to address the nation’s challenges.

Rehman also called for the release of detained politicians, including BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, as a step toward creating a fair and inclusive political environment.

The case, which dates back several years, has been a focal point in Bangladesh's political and legal landscape, drawing widespread attention both domestically and internationally. Rehman’s bail signals a new phase in the case as the interim government continues to navigate a highly polarized political climate.
