Dhaka, Aug 13 (V7N) – The second day of hearings on the framing of charges in the Ashulia body burning case is being held today, with arguments from tribunal-appointed lawyers and defense counsel.
On Wednesday morning, eight arrested suspects in the case were produced before the International Crimes Tribunal.
Last week, the prosecution submitted charges against 16 accused to International Crimes Tribunal-2. The charges include the killing of five people and one injured person whose bodies were later burned on August 5, as well as the shooting death of another person in front of Ashulia Police Station on August 4.
Eight accused, including former MP Saiful Islam, remain absconding. The tribunal-appointed lawyers are representing them during today’s proceedings.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, the third day of testimony in the Chankharpul murder trial is scheduled for today. So far, three witnesses have testified in that case.
