Dhaka, Mar 01 (V7N) – Five candidates have filed petitions with the election tribunal of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh alleging irregularities and vote rigging in five constituencies, including Rajshahi-4 and Pabna-4, in the 13th National Parliament election.
According to information available on the Supreme Court’s website, the candidates have sought an order to preserve the ballot papers of the concerned constituencies as evidence. The single election tribunal led by Justice Md. Zakir Hossain is expected to hold a hearing on the matter today.
Earlier on Thursday, candidates from Jamaat and BNP submitted similar petitions over alleged irregularities in Sherpur-1, Dhaka-6, Dhaka-7 and Gaibandha-4 constituencies. Following those applications, the court ordered that ballot papers from the constituencies be taken into custody.
With the latest filings, allegations of irregularities and vote rigging have now been raised in a total of nine constituencies before the High Court’s election tribunal, setting the stage for further legal scrutiny of the election process.
