Dhaka, Sep 07 (V7N) — Dilip Kumar Agarwala, the Managing Director of Diamond World, has been ordered to jail by the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of a youth during the anti-discrimination student movement in Badda. Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi rejected Agarwala’s bail plea and ordered his remand on Saturday.

After completing a three-day remand, the investigating officer produced Agarwala before the court and requested that he remain in jail until the investigation is concluded. The court upheld the request, denying the bail petition submitted by Agarwala’s lawyer.

Agarwala was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from Gulshan on the night of September 3, following the tragic killing of a teenager named Hriday in front of BRAC University on July 19 during the student protests. A case was subsequently filed by Shahadat Hossain Khan, naming 161 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Agarwala has been implicated in the case.

In addition to his alleged involvement in Hriday’s murder, Agarwala is a controversial figure, facing multiple allegations, including selling counterfeit diamonds, tax evasion, and laundering money abroad. The ongoing investigation seeks to uncover more details about his activities.
