Rangamati, July 27 (V7N) – In a recent operation, the Kaptai Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh (41 BGB) intercepted a large shipment of illegal Indian Oris cigarettes being smuggled through the Kaptai road. A total of 4,000 packs of contraband cigarettes were confiscated along with the vehicle used for smuggling, an Ex-Noah microbus.
 
The seizure took place on Sunday afternoon near the check post adjacent to Gate No. 1 of Wagachara Battalion headquarters. The operation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Kawsar Mehedi, Signals Officer of the Kaptai Battalion, based on intelligence reports. The Ex-Noah microbus was thoroughly searched, resulting in the confiscation of the cigarettes and the vehicle.
 
According to Border Guard Bangladesh sources, the estimated value of the seized cigarettes and vehicle is approximately Tk 28 lakh.
 
Currently, the confiscated Indian cigarettes and the microbus are in the process of being handed over to the Customs Office by the Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB) for further legal action.
 
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the BGB to curb illegal smuggling activities along the borders and maintain law and order in the region.
