Tangail, Sep 25 (V7N)- A tragic accident occurred in Bhuyapur Upazila of Tangail when a bus lost control and crashed into a residence, killing a pedestrian and injuring 15 others. The incident took place on Wednesday morning in the Kuthiboyra Bazar Mor area.

The deceased, identified as Abdul Halim (54), was a resident of Kuthibayra village. According to local sources, two buses—SS Travel and Bhai Bhai Paribahan—were racing at high speed from Dhaka to Tarakandi. The SS Travels bus suddenly lost control and veered off the road, colliding with a house and crushing Abdul Halim, who was walking nearby.

Sharmin Akhtar, the wife of the house owner's son, described the terrifying moment: “I was sleeping when I heard a loud noise. Initially, I thought a tree had fallen on the house, but then I saw the bus had crashed into it. I was trapped inside, but people came and rescued me.” She added that her child, who was not in the vicinity, escaped injury, while her mother-in-law, who was in another room, sustained injuries.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Karim of Bhuyapur Police Station confirmed the incident and stated that police were dispatched to the scene immediately upon receiving the news. "An elderly pedestrian lost his life in the accident, and 15 more people were injured," he said.

The injured were quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The accident has raised concerns about reckless driving and the safety of residents living close to the roads.
