Kuakata, Sep 27 (V7N)- Kuakata, one of the country's prime tourist destinations, celebrated World Tourism Day with vibrant activities, embracing the theme "Tourism's Steps to Peace." The celebration kicked off on Friday morning at 9:30 am with a colorful procession starting from Kuakata Municipal Square. The event saw enthusiastic participation from various tourism-related organizations, including the Hotel Motel Owners Association, Tour Operators Association of Kuakata (Towak), and Kuakata Tourism Management Association (Kutum).

Following the lively procession, participants joined in a beach cleanup initiative led by the Patuakhali District Administration, Upazila Administration, and Kuakata Municipality. The beach cleaning campaign emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment in tourist hotspots.

A discussion meeting was later held at the Tourism Youth Hall, presided over by Kuakata Beach Management Committee Member Secretary and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Rabiul Islam. Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arifin was the chief guest of the event, while notable special guests included Assistant Commissioner (V.M.) Kaushik Ahmed, Additional Superintendent of Police (Tourist Police) Rizwan Abul Kalam Azad, and Patuakhali Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Yadav Sarkar. Other key figures such as Local Government Deputy Director Jewel Rana and Kuakata Municipal BNP President Abdul Aziz Musalli also attended.

During the discussion, speakers highlighted the need for improved infrastructure, service, and security to boost Kuakata’s tourism sector. They emphasized the importance of proper discipline and development in maintaining Kuakata's status as a premier tourist destination.

At the end of the program, a new website dedicated to Kuakata tourism, www.Kuakata.gov.bd, was officially launched. This platform will serve as a comprehensive resource for tourists, providing information about the area and allowing for online bookings at hotels, motels, and resorts, further enhancing the tourist experience in Kuakata.

The day ended on a hopeful note, with participants expressing optimism about Kuakata's growing potential as a key tourism hub in the region.
