Rangamati, Oct 06 (V7N) — The Rangamati district administration has announced a temporary ban on the arrival of tourists in the entire Rangamati district, citing security concerns due to potential unrest. The ban, which will remain in effect from October 8, 2024, to October 31, 2024, follows similar restrictions recently placed on the Sajek region. The decision comes amid growing fears of disruptions by domestic and foreign elements in the hill areas.

The district administration's NDC issued an official notice on Sunday, urging tourists to avoid travel to Rangamati during this period. This precautionary measure is intended to protect visitors and prevent the escalation of any potential disturbances.

Confirming the directive, Deputy Commissioner of Rangamati Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan said, "This decision has been made in consideration of the overall situation, including the safety of tourists. The order applies to all three hill districts."

This follows a previous directive issued by the Rangamati district administration on October 3, 2024, which indefinitely restricted tourist access to the Sajek region. That decision was made in response to concerns over law and order in the area, particularly around Sajek's popular tourist spots.

In a separate development, the Chittagong Hill Tracts Combined Buddhist Bhikshu Sangha has announced the cancellation of their upcoming Cheebar charity event due to the ongoing tension in the region.

The district administration has emphasized that these measures are temporary and are being taken to ensure public safety in light of the evolving security situation in the hill areas.
