Habiganj, Oct 29 (V7N) –  A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol team from the Dharamghar border outpost apprehended eight Bangladeshi nationals attempting to cross into India illegally through the Dharmaghar border in Madhavpur, Habiganj. The detainees were subsequently handed over to Madhavpur police station for further processing.

On Tuesday night, five individuals were arrested while attempting to infiltrate India from the Debnagar border. The detained individuals include Parimal Sarkar (55) and Tapas Sarkar (50) from Shahjadapur village under Sarail police station in Brahmanbaria district, Swapan Sarkar (45) from Mirzapur village under Vijaynagar police station, and Durjoy Majumdar (19) and Mohammad Ali (60) from Devnagar village under Madhavpur police station.

In a separate operation on Tuesday morning, three others were apprehended at the Santoshpur border. Those arrested include Bechan Das (26), Manpuri Das (20), and Mangaldas (19), all residents of Sarikait village under Sandhip police station in Chattogram district.

According to Naib Subedar A. Roup, Company Commander of the Dharamghar border outpost, the individuals intended to travel to India seeking employment and medical treatment with the assistance of a local broker, Mohammad Ali. They were detained before they could cross the border.

Lt. Col. Farah Mohammad Imtiaz, Commander of the Sarail 25 BGB Battalion, confirmed that a regular case has been filed against the eight individuals by Madhavpur police station. These arrests underscore the ongoing challenges at border points, as individuals continue to seek unauthorized entry into neighboring countries despite strict patrols and legal consequences.
