Patuakhali, Nov 28, (V7N) - Nine students from the Rahmatpur GM S Tsing Home Coaching Center in Kalapara, Patuakhali, fell ill and were hospitalized on Wednesday night. The incident occurred around 9:00 PM, with all the affected students experiencing respiratory issues.

The students—Sharmin (14), Samridha (13), Fatima (14), Farzana (14), Zereen (14), Ruba (14), another Fatima (13), Humaira (15), and Mumtaz (14)—were admitted to Kalapara Hospital for treatment.

Ripon, a teacher at the coaching center, explained that one student first showed signs of respiratory distress and was treated with a nebulizer. However, three more students quickly developed similar symptoms, and eventually, a total of nine students required medical attention.

Dr. Bikas, the duty doctor at Kalapara Hospital, stated that all the students suffered from respiratory problems, which he suspects could be related to psychological factors. "If one student becomes ill, it may trigger anxiety or similar symptoms in others," he noted.

Three students with more severe complications are being referred to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital for advanced care, while the remaining six have shown signs of improvement and are being monitored at Kalapara Hospital.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident to ensure the safety of the students and prevent a recurrence.
